Have you ever tried to buy fractional shares of a stock on Webull but got declined?
I got an error message that says, “Quantity Should be larger than 1”.
It turns out that, that the web application version of Webull doesn’t allow you to buy fractional shares. So does that mean, you can’t buy fractional shares on Webull?
Not exactly. On July 13, 2021 Webull allowed their users to buy fractional shares of a stock on Webull’s mobile and desktop applications!
On the bottom of the Trade widget, you can see the fraction amount in the Order Quantity section.
At the moment, fractional share buying is only available when the Order Type is Market.
You cannot buy fractional share when shorting a stock or ETF.
Another important note, is that you cannot transfer fractional shares to another brokerage. If you transfer all your stocks to another brokerage firm, only whole shares will be transferred. The fractional share will remain in your Webull account.
To find out if a stock like TSLA allows factional shares on Webull, you can see if the stock has a green diamond icon.
